Day 15 Growth. Well I for one can certainly say I have grown artistically during this challenge. I can't say I'm 100% happy with any of the pieces I've created, BUT I've created, and that is a massive achievement for me, having been so dis-interested in photography since my Father passed.
My final image took inspiration from Brooke Shaden's e-book and this quote: "We are human. We are filled with mistakes. The building blocks of our lives are labeled "mistake 1", "mistake 2", and so on. They have to be. Why? Because there is no growth without it. There is hope in my image, the final block is ??? so who know lets hoping when she gets to the top of those brick steps it will be success. Thank you all for taking this journey with me, and a massive thankyou to Brooke Shaden of course for starting this whole crazy thing off. God bless you all x

Day 14 Flight - My doves wee very co-operative today thank goodness but masking htem all out for this image to forever! I may decide to re-visit the edit; as with all the images from the challenge they were completed in one day. On looking back you can always see things you don't like or things you'd change on a re-edit.
But I'm glad that I turned up and created some artwork each day, it's not been easy to create since my Father passed away in Oct 16, so this challenge has at least gotten me off the starting blocks so to speak. The pieces I've created are far from perfect, and atually I embrace that fact, I feel happier in myself that I've created this art (if you can call it that) rather than not tried at all. The only way is up as they say..... Day 13 Forgotten. I really enjoyed todays challenge. Got out and about with my ancient Teddy Bear and hubby who made his acting debut in the accompanying video on my FB page. We had a right old laugh in the trees being watched by people visiting a local bakery, and wondering what on earth two adults and a large teddy bear were doing lurking in the undergrowth on an Industrial Estate :)
Second location was a local common, my husband acting out Teddy's rescue had me in stitches, I was trying SO hard not to be heard on the video recording lol. Anyway a good day, and Ted is safe. I'm wondering now whether Ted should have his own page, now he's gotten out of his chair there's no stopping him. Video of the afternoons nonsense is on my FB Page #ContentCreationChallenge Day 12 Pressure. I think Brooke has chosen each day's themes so well. Really feeling the pressure atm. Anyway my offering for today such as it is, expresses how I'm feeling at this stage of the 15 days; under pressure, waiting for someone to turn on the tap and release it lol. #ContentCreationChallenge
Day 11 Diversity: Late due to internet issues last night. Wow are these challenges getting harder or is it me? Racked my brains over this one, considered doing some street photography but it didn't seem to fit my aim for this challenge. In the end I opted to show the diversity and effort the amateur models at group shoots go to, to depict the characters that appeal to them This was a cos-play shoot I attended a while back and I didn't know most of the models before hand. Done in a movie poster style (sort of). As usual a speed edit is on my FB page.
Day 9 (in the UK) Curiosity: The last 2 days have brought out my silly side lol
Anyway a fairly simple edit, one shot image of "The Curious Explorer" with some eye manipulation and a ladybird added. The speed edit is on my Facebook page if you care to check it out. Have a great day creating all. Day 8 Potential: Bit strapped for time and ideas today, so took a quick shot of hubby before he went to work and then some objects I needed. The other images I took a while back. A little bit of nonsense for Day 8 :) #ContentCreationChallenge.
Speed edits and videos to accompany these images are on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CVHBPhotography/ My inspiration for this image came from Brooke Shaden's beautiful umbrella image from July's 31 days and Salvador Dali's The Persistence of Memory (my painterly link). I wanted to do an image based on time with my Father, as he loved watches, clocks and timepieces. Sadly he passed last October, before we had a chance to do it; hence my lethargic approach to photography in the last year or so.
This is nothing like the image we planned to do at all, but as Tenatious D says..... it's a tribute.......#ContentCreationChallenge Day 6 BEAUTY: I find beauty in many things, some normal and some not. But for this piece I wanted to convey the beauty that I am surrounded by every day. My furbabies, my garden, music, reading, nature, just the beauty that has been and is being created all around us all the time. I don't always "see" this, so I will look to this image in future when I don't feel so bright about life.
I even managed a speed edit today! Had to do it in 8 sections then merge lol as my machine keeps crashing if I record too long. One thing I've discovered tho lol, it's hidden a lot of my editing gaffs :) I keep telling myself "I WILL COMPLETE THIS CHALLENGE" #ContentCreationChallenge Ooops Just realised I didn't post the last 2 challenges on my webpage! So updating today. Would be good to know if anyone is actually popping in to read these mind, feeling a bit lonely in here all by myself :)
Day 5 Breaking under the strain of shattered dreams. Again this is an adaptation of the original idea which didn't come together as freely as I wanted. So using the elements I had to hand I made the best of it. Breaking the bulb was the worst; it WOULD NOT shatter hehe when it did after many hard thumps with a hammer....poof into smithereens and not the shape I wanted booo I say! :( I also realize that after a year or so not doing much on photoshop my skills are badly eroded, but I WILL persevere, I'm sure it'll come back to me one day. And dont ask me about speed edits! grrrr. This post is late on here as I forgot to upload it. BUT I did complete on time and post to FB, Brooke Shadens challenge Page and Instagram...phew
Day 3 Ending.....well today started out ok until I got kicked in the chops by my bunny who I homed about 2 weeks ago lol She kicked me right across the mouth, 3 nice deep scratches and a cut lip...OUCH!! Anyway moving along, this is a modification of an idea I had for this theme, I actually used myself as the subject which is rare for me, and carried on with the books subject from yesterdays challenge. Not entirly happy with it, and may re-work it at some stage. My thinking is that she is chasing an end to her story but it is forever just out of reach. #ContentCreationChallenge

Day 2 Emotion. This one is close to home. I wanted to concentrate on the struggles my husband has with dyslexia, and more importantly with people's attitude towards it. I can't go into detail but he has a had a very hard time over it in the past, and I wanted to show the frustration, sadness, weakness and vunrability he feels almost daily. People see a big strong guy (and he is physically) what they dont or won't see is the internal disability, the feelings of despair & pain he suffers when trying to read and write. Something many of us take for granted, me included. I hope these emotions come through in some degree. Video to do a little later. This was a tough one for me.....and him, but in a way theraptic. Also need to practice widening the frame 'cos I bombed at that lol
I've used Saal before to produce a photo-book and that was beautiful.
So when looking to produce one of my images for a wall display I looked to them again. I opted for the 17x30cm wall art, which comes on 5mm acrylic. To start the process you download the Saal software into which you add your image and adjust size etc and add an image border if so desired. Their software is easy to use and after a few clicks around the various menus, I was confident of what I was doing. When I was happy I clicked order and the image is then uploaded and a confirmation message and e-mail is received. Delivery is tracked whilst in Europe and delivery was prompt. Packaging was excellent. The product itself is beautifully made. Colours are vibrant and the gloss finish of the acrylic makes the image pop. I chose the aluminium subframe mounting as part of my order which means that the image is raised off the wall, which looks great. Very modern and minimalist without a frame. I will definitely buy from Saal again, they are efficient, reliable and produce an amazing product. Highly recomended. Gothic themed competition on VIEWBUG:
http://www.viewbug.com/challenge/gothic-fantasy-worlds-photo-challenge-by-charris You know when you see something for sale and you get that itch that has to be scratched, that box that needs to be ticked? Well I had one of those moments a week or so back. Told myself I didn't need it over and over.
I'll make a quick enquiry I thought, see if the price is negotiable........hey presto lol it's mine! What is it you ask? Well it's a Mamiya C3 of course! :) 6x6 film camera. Well it made me happy & for not much more than the cost of a night on the town! Happy Days..... I bought quite a few boxes of glass plate negatives last year. These are some of the scans I've done so far. Loads more to scan and much bigger negs too......these are not my work but images I'm cataloguing for my own enjoyment. I can honestly say that I've shed a tear over some of them. Faces & places locked in a box for decades now in print...who are they, what life did they lead and where were they taken? Through the post on my Facebook page some places have been recognised which is wonderful. The John o Groats Hotel & Welbeck Abbey but the others I have no idea. If you do please let me know by leaving a comment, any help much appreciated to track down people and places. I hope you enjoy taking a look at the past, I know I'm enjoying cataloguing them :) |
